Rachel McLaughlin (She/Her) is a theatre artist based on Treaty 6 territory in Saskatoon, Sk.

A mover and creator, Rachel has always been fascinated by the breakdown of how a person’s body moves and the ways in which our natural habits and tendencies make up unique peoples. From a young age, she fell in love with not only dance, through its different styles and energies but also with music and its ability to overwhelm a person’s senses – all through which one could uncover wonderful forms of physical expression. Loving to observe and mimic, Rachel enjoys bringing life to her roles on stage by incorporating such idiosyncrasies, to create lasting connections between performer and audience.

Born in Manitoba, raised in Saskatchewan, and frequently flitting from there to Nova Scotia, Rachel adores stretching her body to discover fresh and changing perspectives from around the nation. While primarily based in Saskatoon, Sk, Rachel still enjoys the thrill of spreading her roots throughout Canada as much as she can, especially to explore and showcase unique stories from around her community. In this way, she is particularly grateful to have recently joined 25th Street Theatre’s production of Breaking The Curse, a work by Canadian playwright Rachel Walliser.

While finding deep joy in physical theatre, Rachel also looks forward to exploring other avenues of performance and creativity, hoping to find ways in which to incorporate ideas of ensemble/collaborative performance, as well as Feminist theatre into her professional work. At this time, Rachel is continuing to pursue her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting at the University of Saskatchewan and is looking forward to making more lasting connections with fellow theatre artists and creatives along the way.
